Wearable Computers – Does Google Glass Outweigh Apple iWatch?

By Ragu. Posted on 03 April 2013
Google and Apple, being regarded as ‘The World’s Most Innovative Companies of the World’ by Forbes, keep the momentum in place with their continuous innovations and inventions. While Google Glass finding a place in ‘Best Inventions of the Year 2012’ by TIME magazine and Apple iWatch being the most anticipated yet-to-be released smartwatch, they are marching towards the next generation computing. This article unfolds the unpredictability of who wins the game and be the next generation computing.

From reliable sources on the internet, when their aspects are compared, Glass cancels out iWatch for its idea of mounted half inch display to goggles letting you focus if you look up and to the right to use the smart apps on the go.

iWatch is not an invention of its kind as Microsoft released its smartwatch in 2002. It is not because Microsoft’s Smartwatch was a failure, iWatch is doomed to fail and gives way to find more chances to be in the list of failed gadgets but for its dependability upon pairing up (assumed to) with iPad or iPhone via Bluetooth while Glass is tethering up with Android or iPhone for 3G or 4G data. Hence, with Glass, the barrier to restrict its compatibility to pair up with one mobile OS is broken with the inclusion of iOS.

With Glass, you have the required information in front without taking any effort to look into any device worn or carried over. Think of GPS on iWatch while driving, you cannot be seeing the watch and following the directions continuously but it is not the same case with Glass, you have the information right in front of your eyes and it makes you free from using a dedicated GPS device. Hence iWatch is just another device for easier communication but Glass is something out of the box.
In any case, if these two gadgets are going to succeed, the watch makers in the watch market, to compete with Apple, have to move towards adding more technological features to their watches, at the same time, spectacles makers do not need to consider adding technological features as Google made it to be adaptable to any number of third party OEM frames. In addition, one must own the iphone before buying the iWatch smartwatch snce iWatch is restricted to pair up with iPhone

Though iWatch, comparatively, has less room to revolutionize, it may succeed with its big brand name ‘Apple’ but will definitely stay behind Google Glass which is the expected future generation computing. However, it does not matter whether iWatch turns out to be a success or a failure, Apple must think of making its ‘iGlass ‘ or invent some gadget that would go next generation.
