Dolphin web browser has released its new version Dolphin 7.0 for Android phones that takes you to the cloud with Dolphin Connect. The previous version Dolphin 6.0 had the features such as Speed Dial, Webzine and Gestures. Dolphin 7.0 now lets you sync your browsing preferences, bookmarks and gestures across all Android devices and yet to be ready for iOS. Dolphin 7.0 stands out of the other mobile cloud browsers like Opera Mini and Amazon Silk especially for its Sync functionality.

Dolphin Connect feature on your Dolphin browser stores your browsing preferences in the cloud and when you browse with Dolphin on another mobile device, your stored preferences are accessed from the cloud. So you do not have to store your preferences on every device you use. When Amazon Silk is known for its split-browser architecture and Opera Mini is known for its compression technology, Dolphin 7.0 will be known for its Sync feature. The Sync feature is one of the common features of a cloud storage but this is completely new to a web browser.

Dolphin has already gained number of users with its Webzine and Gesture features and it may not gain more number of users with its Dolphin Connect feature because when it comes to cloud browsers Opera Mini and Amazon Silk are in the race giving better features. Amazon Silk with split browser architecture, compression technology and page loading feature from the users’ characteristics and Opera Mini with its compression technology can load any websites faster than any browsers in the market.

The Sync feature in the browser is a great idea but the number of users using two or more mobile devices may be less and it could be easy for Opera and Amazon to add this Sync functionality in addition to their other cloud features. It would have been better if Dolphin had a web browser for non-mobile devices such as standalone PCs or laptops so that the users can sync with all the computing devices they use rather than restricting to mobile devices. When it comes to cloud browsers, Dolphin 7.0 seems to give lesser cloud experience than Amazon Silk and Opera Mini as the users would definitely need faster page loading rather than the Sync functionality.
