Disadvantages
OutlookCloud computing is the buzz word today and is challenging other technologies. When Infosys is betting big on cloud computing and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says the global revenues from cloud will increase from $29 billion to $70 billion by 2015, it looks like cloud computing is set to go in the right direction. An article on Cloud computing published on Bloomberg Businessweek reports, even small companies are going for cloud computing for its secure IT infrastructure with a little investment. The cloud technology is growing but it is not sure Chromebooks will grow along because a free version of Chrome browser running on any Operating System can do the same things as a Chrome OS and also many more offline without the web connectivity. Tom Bradley from PC World says, Chromebooks are doomed to fail while Anton Wahlman in an article on TheStreet.com says Google Chromebook outshines Intel Ultrabook. You can do a lot on the web, but when it comes to accounting programs or software programming, the desktop will not be dead. These Chromebooks will definitely replace the netbooks sooner if Google reduces the price. In the future, it may replace any Operating Systems when anything can be done in the cloud, at the same time, you will pay for the service to use it. However, we cannot compare Chromebooks with other Operating Systems as it is the first cloud-based OS in the market. We will have to wait and see if it is successful then Microsoft and Apple will come with their cloud-based Operating Systems. HTML Comment Box is loading comments...
